Heavy rainfall has caused severe waterlogging and disrupted train operations at the Rambag Railway Station in Prayagraj following sustained downpours starting around August 19, 2026. Passengers traveling through the region should note that train services originating and terminating at Rambag have been temporarily shifted to Jhunsi station to ensure safety and service continuity. Train operations at Rambag station are currently suspended due to flooded tracks and station yards. North Eastern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Sumit Kumar confirmed the operational shifts. General Manager Prabhash Dansana inspected the submerged tracks on August 21, 2026, ordering accelerated drainage and long-term preventive measures.
Current Status of Train Services
Train services that normally handle passengers at Rambag are now being managed from Jhunsi station. North Central Railway CPRO Dr. Shivam Sharma clarified that other major hubs like Prayagraj Junction, Naini, and Prayagraj Chheoki are operating normally without waterlogging issues. Railway authorities are working continuously to restore normal scheduling at Rambag as soon as weather conditions and drainage permits.
Administrative and Judicial Response
The flooding has triggered prompt administrative and judicial responses across the city. The Allahabad High Court took suo motu cognizance of the city-wide flooding, directing the district administration and municipal corporation to fix drainage deficiencies immediately. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force remains deployed in Prayagraj to execute relief operations and enforce safety advisories around waterlogged zones. Passengers are advised to check their train schedules before heading to the station.
