Ara to Bihta Metro Line Proposal
The Mayor of Ara Municipal Corporation, Indu Devi, has formally requested Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to extend the elevated metro line from Bihta to Ara. This initiative is part of the ongoing preparations to implement a metro train service in Patna, with plans to connect it to Arrah. The proposed metro line will span approximately 28 kilometers and include 14 stations along the route, facilitating better transportation between these two locations.
Approval and Funding Structure
The Urban Development Department is currently working on a proposal to lay the metro line from Patna Bihta Airport to Arrah. This proposal will soon be submitted to the Cabinet for approval, after which it will be forwarded to the Union Urban Development Ministry. The funding for the metro project will be structured as follows: 20% will be provided by the Central Government, another 20% by the State Government, and the remaining 60% will be acquired through loans from various financial institutions, facilitated by the newly established Metro Rail Corporation of Ara.
Impact on Local Development
The establishment of the metro line is expected to significantly enhance the development of Ara and its surrounding areas, addressing growing traffic congestion as the population increases. The feasibility report and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro rail will be prepared by a designated agency following the Cabinet’s approval. This initiative aims to improve transportation, education, health, and tourism within Ara by providing a reliable transit option for the large number of commuters traveling between Patna and Arrah daily.
