The Union Cabinet has officially approved the expansion of the Noida Metro Aqua Line. Announced on February 14, 2026, this new corridor is designed to improve connectivity across the National Capital Region. The project will link the Botanical Garden in Noida directly to Sector 142, offering a major relief to daily commuters who travel between Greater Noida and Delhi.

What are the key details of the project?
The new metro section will span approximately 11.6 km and will include 8 new elevated stations. The government has allocated an estimated budget of ₹2,254 crore for this infrastructure development. According to the official timeline, the construction work is expected to be completed within 4 years, making the line operational around 2030.
This project is being handled by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) and follows the clearance previously given by the Uttar Pradesh government. The addition of this corridor will push the total metro network in the Noida and Greater Noida region to over 61 km.
How will this benefit the commuters?
The most significant advantage of this expansion is the transformation of the Botanical Garden station into a triple-interchange hub. Currently, this station serves the Delhi Metro Blue Line and Magenta Line. With the arrival of the Aqua Line, passengers will have seamless access to three different corridors.
Commuters living in sectors along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will no longer need to rely on feeder buses or private vehicles to reach the Delhi Metro network. This direct link is expected to reduce travel time significantly for those heading towards Central Delhi, South Delhi, and the Airport.
