The transformation of Mahendragarh Railway Station in Haryana is moving at a rapid pace, with the project now 85% complete as of July 10, 2026. Under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the station is being overhauled to become a modern, world-class transit hub. Railway authorities have confirmed that the first phase of the development, which carries an approved budget of approximately 17 crore rupees, is slated for completion by November, while the overall project is on track to meet its final December deadline.
Enhancing Passenger Experience and Aesthetics
The modernization drive focuses on both functional upgrades and aesthetic appeal. To reflect the local heritage, the station features old fort-themed architecture and cultural wall paintings. Passenger amenities have been significantly improved with the installation of LED lighting, modern waiting rooms, and upgraded toilet facilities. Ensuring inclusivity, the station has been equipped with special provisions for persons with disabilities, including dedicated parking spaces, accessible ticket windows, and clear, intuitive signage.
Safety and information systems have also received a major boost. Passengers can now benefit from new coach guidance display boards, and the station’s security infrastructure has been fortified with the installation of a comprehensive CCTV camera network.
Infrastructure Expansion and Sustainable Growth
A major addition to the station’s infrastructure is the construction of a new Pedestrian Overbridge (FOB), which is essential for improving passenger movement and safety between platforms. Work on this bridge, which has an estimated cost of 8.50 crore rupees, is currently 10% complete. Furthermore, the Indian Railways is prioritizing sustainability at the station by planning the installation of a solar energy plant to promote green energy production.
Engineers are currently on-site, providing constant supervision to ensure that all construction activities remain synchronized and that the station is ready to serve the public fully by the end of the year. This development marks a significant milestone for Haryana’s rail connectivity, promising a safer and more comfortable travel experience for thousands of daily commuters.
