The North Central Railway (NCR) hosted a high-level consultative meeting with Members of Parliament from the Prayagraj division on July 10, 2026, at Hotel Kanha Shyam, Prayagraj. The session, chaired by Aligarh MP Satish Kumar Gautam, focused on fast-tracking infrastructure projects and enhancing passenger amenities to meet the growing demands of the region. Key railway leadership, including NCR General Manager Naresh Pal Singh and Prayagraj Divisional Railway Manager Rajneesh Agrawal, were present to address a wide range of developmental proposals.

Focus on Connectivity and Infrastructure
During the meeting, MPs highlighted the urgent need for better connectivity. Discussions centered on increasing the frequency of the Prayagraj-Mumbai Duronto Express and introducing new special trains to Mumbai and Lucknow. A major point of advocacy was the inclusion of 24 non-stop trains for stoppages at Prayagraj Junction, a request formally escalated to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw by Phulpur MP Praveen Patel. Other agenda items included the potential renaming of Subedarganj station to ‘Cantt’ and increasing the number of Vande Bharat Express stoppages within the division.
Performance and Future Growth
General Manager Naresh Pal Singh expressed commitment to reviewing all suggestions for future implementation. The division shared impressive growth metrics for the Financial Year 2025-26, reporting ₹1,699 crore in passenger revenue and ₹893 crore in freight revenue. Operational milestones include:

- Laying of 28 km of new railway line.
- Commissioning of automatic signaling on 25.18 km.
- Successful deployment of the ‘Kavach’ safety system across 400 km.

Looking ahead, the railway is aggressively pursuing station redevelopment. Work is currently in progress at Prayagraj Junction and Kanpur Central. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the division has already completed upgrades at five out of 15 targeted stations, with the remaining projects expected to be finalized within this financial year.
