The North Central Railway (NCR) has introduced a new initiative to help passengers cope with the extreme summer heat. Under the Prayagraj Division, 12 major railway stations will soon feature modern fruit and juice bars along with updated catering units. This plan is set for the next five years and focuses on providing fresh, healthy, and hygienic beverage options to travelers during their journey.
Which stations will get these new facilities?
The railway authorities have selected 12 specific stations where these fruit and juice bars will be established. This step is designed to improve the quality of catering services and ensure that passengers have access to healthy alternatives to packaged drinks. The stations included in this list are:
- Naini, Mainpuri, and Hathras
- Khaga (2 units) and Phaphund (2 units)
- Kanpur Anwarganj and Sirathu
- Shankargarh, Iradatganj, Bharwari, and Bawari
In addition to these, the railway also plans to set up multi-purpose stalls or similar facilities at other busy locations including Prayagraj Junction, Kanpur Central, Aligarh, Etawah, and Mirzapur. The project aims to make the travel experience more comfortable for common people moving through these high-traffic zones.
How will this pilot project benefit passengers?
This initiative is part of a pilot project titled Healthy Dieting, Swasth Railway. Unlike traditional fruit stalls, these modern bars will offer a variety of fresh juices prepared in a hygienic environment. Senior officials have stated that this is the first time Indian Railways is systematically introducing such dedicated fruit and juice bars.
- Tenure: The units will be operational for a period of five years.
- Quality Control: Focus will remain on pure and fresh items to prevent dehydration among passengers.
- Employment: The opening of these units is expected to create several local job opportunities.
- Auction Details: The e-auctions for these units were conducted between February 11 and 13, 2026.
Railway officials mentioned that providing high-quality food and drink is a top priority. This facility will ensure that even in the peak of summer, passengers can find reliable and healthy options at the station platforms.
