Passengers travelling on the Delhi-Jaisalmer Runicha Express should take note of a significant route adjustment. The North Western Railway has announced that Train number 14087 will be diverted via the Shekhawati region to facilitate essential infrastructure work. This change will remain in effect from August 21 through September 24, 2026.
Key highlights of the diversion include:
- Reason for Change: Railway line doubling work between Kund, Pali, and Khori stations on the Phulera-Rewari section.
- Effective Dates: August 21, 2026, to September 24, 2026.
- New Route: The train will now pass through Rewari, Mahendragarh, Loharu, Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, Nawalgarh, and Sikar.
- Departure/Arrival: The train departs Delhi at 8:55 AM and is scheduled to reach Jhunjhunu at approximately 12:30 PM.
Understanding the Route Change
According to Amit Sudarshan, the Chief Public Relations Officer, the diversion is a necessary step to fast-track infrastructure development in the region. By moving the service to the Shekhawati route, the railway aims to ensure that the ongoing track doubling project between Kund, Pali, and Khori proceeds without compromising safety or operational efficiency.
During this temporary period, the Runicha Express will bypass its regular route, which typically includes Rewari, Alwar, Jaipur, and Phulera. Instead, after departing from Delhi, the train will be rerouted to cover key stations in the Shekhawati belt, including Mahendragarh, Loharu, Chirawa, and Jhunjhunu. After passing through Nawalgarh and Sikar, the train will head toward Ringas, eventually realigning with its path toward Jaisalmer.
Travel Advice for Passengers
Regular commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, as the diversion will alter the usual transit times and station stops. While the departure time from Delhi remains at 8:55 AM, the change in route may impact the overall arrival time at subsequent stations. Passengers are encouraged to check the IRCTC website or the NTES app for real-time updates regarding their specific travel dates during this maintenance window. This temporary measure is part of a broader effort by Indian Railways to enhance capacity and improve the long-term reliability of the rail network in Rajasthan and Haryana.
