On Friday, July 17, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated eight railway stations in Rajasthan that have undergone extensive redevelopment as part of the nationwide Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This ambitious initiative is designed to modernize 75 railway stations across India, balancing the integration of modern passenger amenities with the preservation of regional architectural heritage under the theme of ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi’. The North Western Railway (NWR) oversees the operations of Dausa and six other stations included in this latest phase of the project.

Key highlights of the redevelopment include:

• Dausa Railway Station was upgraded at an **estimated cost of Rs 15 crore**.

• New amenities include **lifts, escalators, free Wi-Fi, and executive lounges**.

• The station now features **barrier-free access** with ramps and dedicated pathways for persons with disabilities.

• Aesthetic enhancements include **murals and artwork** reflecting Rajasthan’s rich cultural history.

• Seven additional stations—**Jaisalmer, Barmer, Khairthal, Gotan, Somesar, Deeg, and Gangapur City**—were also inaugurated.

Modernizing Passenger Experience

Dausa Railway Station has received a significant facelift, moving beyond basic infrastructure to provide a world-class travel experience. In addition to the technological upgrades like digital information systems and improved lighting, the station layout has been optimized to handle passenger flow more efficiently. A public event was held at the station premises to mark the occasion, where local representatives, railway officials, and students gathered to witness the Prime Minister’s address.

Strategic Infrastructure Growth in Rajasthan

Among the stations inaugurated, the **Jaisalmer Railway Station stands out as the largest project, with a redevelopment cost of approximately Rs 140 crore**. These efforts complement the ongoing railway expansion in the region, most notably the **Dausa-Gangapur City rail line**. This 92.67-kilometer line, which was originally conceptualized in 1996-97, became fully operational in early 2023. To further boost connectivity and regional trade, the electrification of this route began in 2023-24 and is **targeted for completion by March 2026**. Additionally, the infrastructure network in the district was further strengthened by the inauguration of a new goods shed at Baniyana Railway Station on July 17, 2025.
