The Ministry of Railways has announced a new rail link connecting the transit hub of Ramnagar with the capital city of Dehradun, addressing a long-standing demand from residents of Uttarakhand. This new bi-weekly service aims to streamline connectivity across several districts in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, providing a convenient travel option for commuters, students, and tourists alike.
- Train Numbers: 15310 (Ramnagar to Dehradun) and 15309 (Dehradun to Ramnagar).
- Operational Days: Every Wednesday and Friday.
- Inaugural Run: A special service (05014) will run on July 18, 2026.
- Key Stops: Kashipur, Roshanpur, Pipalsana, Moradabad, Najibabad, and Haridwar.
Train Schedule and Connectivity
Starting from July 18, 2026, the 15310 Ramnagar-Dehradun Express will depart Ramnagar at 5:50 AM and reach Dehradun by 12:40 PM. For the return journey, the 15309 Dehradun-Ramnagar Express is scheduled to depart Dehradun at 3:55 PM, arriving back in Ramnagar at 11:30 PM. Railway authorities have indicated that the frequency of this service may be increased to four or five days a week in the future, depending on passenger demand and occupancy rates.
Coach Composition and Benefits
To cater to different segments of travellers, the train will be equipped with a diverse range of coaches, including AC Second Class, AC Third Class, AC Chair Car, Sleeper, Second Class Chair Car, and General Second Class.
This route is set to be a major boost for the region, benefiting districts such as Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, and Dehradun in Uttarakhand, along with Moradabad and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh. The service will be particularly helpful for pilgrims heading to the Char Dham Yatra or the Girija Devi Temple, as well as tourists visiting the Jim Corbett National Park. Additionally, it offers a reliable same-day return option for those travelling to the state capital for official or academic purposes.
On the launch date of July 18, 2026, the inaugural special train 05014 will depart Ramnagar at 12:00 PM and arrive in Dehradun at 8:15 PM, operating with a 17-coach configuration. This initiative, supported by Member of Parliament Anil Baluni, reflects the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Railways to enhance regional connectivity.
