Passengers planning to travel on the Udaipur-Khajuraho Express in late July 2026 should take note of a temporary route diversion. The North Western Railway has officially announced that train services will be adjusted to accommodate essential infrastructure development being carried out by the North Central Railway. This temporary change is necessary to facilitate non-interlocking work linked to the ongoing track doubling project on the crucial Veerangana Lakshmibai-Manikpur rail section, specifically impacting the stretch between Mau Ranipur and Rora stations.
Key details regarding the schedule and route changes are as follows:
- Train No. 19666 (Udaipur City-Khajuraho Express) departing from Udaipur City on July 27, 2026, will follow a diverted route.
- Train No. 19665 (Khajuraho-Udaipur City Express) departing from Khajuraho on July 28, 2026, will also run on an altered path.
- The diverted route for both services will be via Veerangana Lakshmibai-Dailwara-Birari-Khajuraho.
Reason for the Diversion
The North Central Railway is currently prioritizing track doubling work, which is a vital move to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the rail network in this region. Such infrastructure upgrades often require non-interlocking procedures, which necessitate temporary traffic adjustments to ensure the safety of construction crews and the smooth operation of train services. Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, confirmed that while these adjustments are necessary for long-term network improvement, they will impact the regular traffic flow on these specific dates.
Advice for Passengers
Railway authorities have urged passengers to stay informed about their train’s status before heading to the station. Given the nature of these engineering works, schedules can sometimes face minor fluctuations. Travelers are advised to verify the latest status and updated timetable through official Indian Railways channels, such as the NTES app, the IRCTC website, or by dialing 139. Checking your booking details ahead of time will help ensure a hassle-free journey and avoid any last-minute inconvenience caused by the route diversion.
