This initiative is designed to handle the heavy passenger rush between Mumbai, Pune, and the Konkan belt during the festivities, which begin on September 14, 2026. The planned services include 184 reserved trains featuring a mix of AC, sleeper, and unreserved coaches, alongside 62 unreserved MEMU special services to cater to regional travel needs.
Key highlights of the 2026 Ganpati special train plan include:
- Operational Window: Services will run between September 11 and September 27, 2026.
- Major Hubs: 98 trains from CSMT, 76 from LTT, and 10 from Pune.
- Key Destinations: Connectivity to Sawantwadi Road, Ratnagiri, Madgaon, Khed, and Chiplun.
- Booking Start Date: Reservations for reserved trains open in phases starting August 1, 2026.

The booking process for these special trains is set to be staggered to manage demand effectively. Reservations for trains including 01153, 01445, 01167, and 01447 open on August 1. Bookings for 01165 and 01185 will follow on August 2, while tickets for 01103, 01129, 01151, 01171, and 01131 will become available on August 3. Passengers can secure their seats via the IRCTC website, mobile app, RailOne app, or at PRS counters. For those opting for unreserved travel, tickets will be available through the UTS system at standard fares.
