Summer Special Trains: Indian Railways to operate 18,262 special trips to manage holiday rush

Indian Railways announced a massive plan to handle the increase in passengers during the summer vacation. From April 15 to July 15, 2026, the railway will operate 18,262 summer special train trips. Out of the total 908 special trains planned, 660 trains covering 11,294 trips are already available for booking.

What are the new special trains via Jaipur?

North Western Railway introduced three one-way special trains from Gujarat to Kolkata and Howrah that will pass through Jaipur. These trains will help passengers traveling from Rajasthan to eastern states like Bihar, West Bengal, and Jharkhand. The trains include AC, Sleeper, and General coaches to accommodate different types of travelers.

Who reviewed the summer travel plan?

Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the operation of these summer special trains in New Delhi. The goal is to make travel easier and strengthen connectivity during the peak holiday season. Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, confirmed that these services will provide significant relief to passengers heading toward Eastern India.

Special crowd management arrangements have been made at busy stations including New Delhi, Mumbai (LTT, CSMT, Pune), Surat, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru. These trains will stop at key stations such as Gandhidham, Palanpur, Abu Road, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Tundla, and Kanpur.
