A big news is coming from the Northeast Frontier Railway! In January, the first-ever Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will start its service. It will run between Kamakhya and Howrah, passing through the Katihar division.
On the occasion of the new year, over six new trains will also be introduced by the Northeast Frontier Railway. The Prime Minister will inaugurate these trains on 17th and 18th January.
The General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway, Chaitanya Srivastava, shared this information during a press conference at Katihar station. On 17th January, the Prime Minister will flag off the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train from Kamakhya, which is expected to be the fastest and most modern train in the country.
This new sleeper train can reach speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour. It is designed with advanced technology to ensure a comfortable journey for passengers, even at high speeds. For example, a glass of water inside the coach won’t spill, showing how stable the train is.
Looking ahead, the Katihar division is seeing significant improvements. The station renovation under the Amrit Bharat scheme will be finished this financial year. Plans for doubling the Katihar-Jogbani line are ready, and progress is being made on the Indo-Nepal project as well.
