Train Operations Amid Mahakumbh
The Railway Board’s Public Relations Officer, Dilip Kumar, addressed concerns regarding the cancellation of trains heading towards Prayagraj in light of a recent stampede incident during the Mahakumbh festival. Following the incident, one or two trains were temporarily held, but the situation has since been resolved, and there are currently no plans for further changes. A significant number of trains are scheduled to operate today to facilitate the return of passengers to their homes after the Mauni Amavasya bathing rituals.
Safety Measures and Crowd Management
In response to the stampede, authorities have heightened security measures at Prayagraj Junction, deploying Rapid Action Force (RAF) and additional police personnel to ensure the safety of the devotees. Special arrangements are in place to assist those traveling for the Mauni Amavasya holy bath. The Prayagraj Railway Division has implemented specific restrictions and special schemes to manage the crowd effectively, especially given that around 10 crore devotees are expected to participate in the rituals today.
Entry and Exit Protocols at Stations
For the Mauni Amavasya bathing festival, strict protocols have been established for entry and exit at various railway stations. At Prayagraj Junction, entry will be permitted only from the city side and platform number 1, while exits will occur through civil lines and platform number 6. Reserved ticket holders will have a designated entry point, whereas unreserved travelers will be directed through designated shelter sites. Similar arrangements are in place at Naini Junction and other stations, ensuring organized flow and management of the large influx of passengers during this significant event.
