Western Railway has successfully finished a major infrastructure upgrade on Bridge number 370 between Billimora and Amalsad. This work was part of the Virar-Surat section managed by the Mumbai division. The project involved replacing old steel structures with modern concrete slabs to ensure better safety and strength.

What work was done on the Billimora-Amalsad bridge?

The railway engineers replaced six old steel girders, each with a clear span of 12.2 meters, with new PSC (Pre-stressed Concrete) slabs. A total of 21 PSC slabs, weighing approximately 35 tonnes each, were installed at the site. This process was completed during a planned four-hour traffic block on both Up and Down lines to avoid long-term disruptions.

How did this work affect train services?

Due to the gridder launching work, several train services were regulated. This included changes in the timings of six major trains, including the Ganganagar-Tirunavanthapuram service. The traffic block was necessary to safely remove the old steel components and place the heavy concrete slabs in their designated positions.
