North Eastern Railway will implement a mega block from July 5 to July 10, 2026, on the Gonda-Budhwal section. This block is necessary for the construction of a third railway line and non-interlocking work between Gonda and Gonda Kacheri stations. The project aims to make train operations faster and safer for passengers.

Which trains are affected by the mega block?

The block will cause significant changes to train schedules. According to CPRO Sumit Kumar, approximately 8 pairs of Mail/Express trains and 14 pairs of Passenger trains will be cancelled. Additionally, 28 pairs of trains will be operated on diverted routes to ensure connectivity.

Category Status Number of Trains

Diverted Trains Route Changed 28 Pairs

What are the benefits and passenger facilities?

Once the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) inspects the site on July 10, the third line will become operational. This will reduce congestion on the Gonda-Budhwal section. To help passengers, the railway will provide full refunds for cancelled trains as per rules. Also, 16 extra trips of Barauni-New Delhi and Darbhanga-New Delhi special trains will be operated to manage the rush.
