Sri Ganganagar railway station is getting a major makeover to improve passenger facilities and infrastructure. The redevelopment is being carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with a budget of ₹20.61 crore. What changes are coming to Sri Ganganagar station
The station is seeing improvements in its circulating area, including better pedestrian paths, proper entry and exit gates, and new parking spaces. The exterior of the existing building is being upgraded with better lighting and landscaping. For passenger comfort, the railway is installing comfortable seating, drinking water facilities, coach guidance systems, train indication boards, and GPS-based clocks.
Details of the new Coach Maintenance Facility
The Ministry of Railways has approved a high-tech coach maintenance facility at the station costing ₹174.26 crore. This project is part of the PM Gati Shakti initiative and is being fast-tracked. The facility will allow the maintenance of about six rail rakes daily, which will help in running more Vande Bharat and LHB coach trains in the border region.

Future expansion and yard plans
To further increase capacity, a proposal was sent to the Railway Board on June 9, 2026, for two new washing lines and a new yard.
