Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the service as part of a major infrastructure development package worth over ₹5,470 crore for Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. This new train bridge serves as a vital link for commuters, pilgrims, and tourists traveling between the Kandi region and the prominent rail hub of Ambala.

- The train covers a distance of 229 kilometers in approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes.
- Major stops include Daulatpur Chowk, Amb Andaura, Una, Nangal Dam, Anandpur Sahib, Rupnagar, Morinda, Sirhind, and Rajpura.
- The service facilitates easier access to religious sites like Sri Anandpur Sahib and Mata Chintpurni Temple.
Train Schedule and Operational Details
The 14502 Kartoli-Ambala City Express departs from Kartoli at 08:30 AM and arrives at Ambala City at 12:55 PM. For the return leg, the 14501 Ambala City-Kartoli Express departs from Ambala City at 04:15 PM, reaching its destination at 08:25 PM. This schedule is designed to optimize travel for daily commuters and those connecting to long-distance trains from the Ambala hub.
Infrastructure Upgrades and Expansion
The launch of this train coincides with the opening of the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli new rail line, a project completed at a cost of roughly ₹830 crore as part of the Nangal Dam-Talwara-Mukerian line initiative. In a major boost to regional travel, the popular Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Himachal Express (14053/14054) has been officially extended to Kartoli.
Furthermore, the railway landscape in the region received a facelift with the inauguration of 75 redeveloped stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, including key stops like Amb Andaura and Jalandhar Cantt. These collective efforts represent a massive push by the government to modernize rail infrastructure and improve the passenger experience across northern India, ensuring that remote areas in the Hoshiarpur district and Himachal border regions are better integrated into the national rail network.
