Passengers at Rampur Railway Station can look forward to a seamless travel experience as construction on a modern footover bridge (FOB) is now in full swing. This project is a crucial part of a major upgrade designed to improve safety and accessibility for thousands of daily commuters. By replacing an aging structure with state-of-the-art facilities, the station is set to eliminate the safety risks previously associated with track-crossing.

Key highlights of the Rampur Railway Station upgrade include:

  • Installation of modern lifts and escalators for passenger convenience.
  • The project is part of the Amrit Bharat Yojana renovation scheme.
  • Total project investment is approximately 23 crore rupees.
  • Additional infrastructure includes a new GRP police station, staff buildings, and updated booking windows.
  • As of July 20, 2026, the upper slab of the new bridge has been successfully laid.

A Long-Awaited Infrastructure Upgrade

For nearly a year, passengers at Rampur have faced significant inconvenience following the demolition of the station’s historic footover bridge, which dated back to the Nawabs’ era. The absence of a bridge led to dangerous instances of track-crossing, making the new construction a top priority for railway authorities. According to Mohammad Azam, Station Superintendent of Rampur, the ongoing work is being fast-tracked to ensure that the public can access these new facilities as soon as possible.

Progressing Under Amrit Bharat Yojana

Beyond the new FOB, which now has its pillars and surface completed, the station is undergoing a comprehensive transformation. The 23 crore rupee investment under the Amrit Bharat Yojana is already visible, with the station’s main entrance already completed and booking windows successfully relocated to better serve the public. With the upper slab now in place and connecting stairs under active construction, the bridge is expected to become the centerpiece of the station’s modernized infrastructure. These improvements are expected to significantly enhance the daily commuting experience, ensuring that Rampur Railway Station meets the standards of modern rail travel.
