Passengers planning to travel on the Jaisalmer-Kathgodam Ranikhet Express should note a significant change in their journey schedule. Due to ongoing infrastructure development at Delhi Cantt Railway Station, the train has been diverted to Old Delhi Junction (DLI) for all arrivals and departures. This operational adjustment, which affects both the up and down services, is a temporary measure to facilitate essential platform modernization works.
Key details of the diversion include:
- Affected Trains: Jaisalmer-Kathgodam Ranikhet Express (Train Nos. 15013/15014).
- New Halting Point: Old Delhi Railway Junction (DLI) instead of Delhi Cantt.
- Effective Date: The change came into effect on July 15, 2026.
- Duration: The diversion will remain in place until October 13, 2026.
Reason for the Diversion
Indian Railways has initiated major upgrade work on platform numbers 2 and 3 at Delhi Cantt station to enhance passenger amenities and operational efficiency. Because these platforms are critical for the handling of the Ranikhet Express, the North Western Railway and the Delhi Division of Northern Railway decided to shift the train’s operations to Old Delhi Junction to ensure safety and avoid congestion during the construction phase.
Impact on Passengers
This change applies to all passengers, including those boarding or deboarding at intermediate stations such as Bandikui. As of August 1, 2026, the official railway records and the operational status for train number 15013 have been updated to reflect the halt at Old Delhi Junction. CPRO Amit Sudarshan has confirmed that the station upgrades are part of a broader effort to improve the railway infrastructure in the capital, which is currently affecting several train services.
Commuters are advised to plan their commute to the station accordingly, as Old Delhi Junction is located at a different transit point compared to Delhi Cantt. Passengers are encouraged to check the latest PNR status or visit the official IRCTC website before heading to the station to ensure they have the most accurate information regarding their specific departure time and platform details. The railway authorities expect the restoration of normal services at Delhi Cantt once the scheduled work is completed in mid-October.
