Indian Railways has announced a series of temporary train diversions and regulations affecting multiple routes due to critical infrastructure upgrades in the Delhi Division. The ongoing pre-non-interlocking (PNI) and non-interlocking (NI) development work involves essential tasks such as the installation of new points and crossings, system testing, and wiring upgrades. These works are being executed by the engineering, signal, and telecommunication departments to improve long-term operational efficiency. Passengers are advised to note the following key service changes occurring between late July and mid-August 2026:
- Kalinga Utkal Express (Puri-Yoganagari): Regulated for 25 minutes on July 30 and diverted on August 1, 2026.
- Delhi-Haridwar Express (14304): Diverted via Tapri-Shamli-Delhi Shahdara on July 30, 31, and August 3, 2026, skipping several stations including Meerut City and Ghaziabad.
- Okha-Dehradun Express (19565): Diverted via New Delhi-Delhi Shahdara-Nali-Shamli-Tapri on July 31, 2026.
- Jan Shatabdi Express (New Delhi-Dehradun): Experienced a 10-minute regulation on August 3, 2026.
- Bikaner–Howrah Superfast Express: Rescheduled due to non-interlocking work at Panki Dham station.
Details of Route Disruptions
The infrastructure works have necessitated significant route modifications. For the Delhi-Haridwar Express (14304), the diversion via the Tapri-Shamli-Delhi Shahdara route means the train will skip major stops including Nangal, Deoband, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut City, Modinagar, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad, and Sahibabad. Similarly, the Okha-Dehradun Express (19565) bypassed Ghaziabad, Modinagar, Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, and Deoband stations on July 31 to accommodate the track development work.
Impact at Panki Dham and Operational Updates
Beyond the Delhi Division, non-interlocking work is also underway at Panki Dham station in the Kanpur Central–Tundla section. This work, which began on July 30, will see post-non-interlocking activities continuing until August 19, 2026. This has specifically impacted the Bikaner–Howrah Superfast Express (JCO 29.07.2026), which has been rescheduled.
