Northern Railway has officially announced significant operational adjustments for over 70 trains passing through Delhi Cantt Railway Station. These changes, which include revised platform arrangements and restricted stoppages, are part of the ongoing transformation of the station under the central government’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The altered operations will remain in effect for a period of nearly three months, starting from **July 15, 2026, and continuing until October 13, 2026**.
Key details regarding the operational changes include:
- Over 70 trains are impacted by temporary schedule or platform modifications.
- Key services affected include the Ajmer–Delhi Sarai Rohilla Jan Shatabdi Express (12065) and the Jaipur–Delhi Cantt Sainik Express (19701/19702).
- The redevelopment project covers the construction of a new east-side station building, residential quarters, an elevated road, and modern concourses.
- The overarching station modernization project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
Scope of the Redevelopment Work
The Delhi Cantt station is one of 13 railway stations in the national capital currently undergoing a massive overhaul under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The Ministry of Railways aims to turn these hubs into world-class transit points with upgraded infrastructure. While the current restrictions at Delhi Cantt are temporary, they are essential to facilitate the complex structural development work currently underway, which includes the creation of dedicated arrival and departure concourses designed to streamline passenger movement.
Guidance for Passengers
Given the scale of these changes, Northern Railway has urged commuters to plan their journeys carefully. Because platform numbers and specific halt timings may fluctuate during this three-month window, passengers should not rely solely on previous travel patterns. To avoid last-minute confusion at the station, travelers are strongly advised to check the live status of their trains using the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app. Alternatively, passengers can dial the Rail Madad Helpline at 139 for real-time updates and assistance regarding their specific train services. Staying informed through official channels will ensure a smoother travel experience while these essential infrastructure upgrades are completed.
