In a significant development regarding passenger safety, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have successfully arrested one individual in connection with the stone-pelting incident targeting the train manager of the Gorakhpur Cantt–Siwan Passenger (Train No. 55042). The arrested suspect has been identified as Arbaz, son of Mohammad Mazhar, a resident of Nawalpur in the Siwan police station area.

Details of the Incident
The incident occurred late on the night of July 30, 2026, when the train experienced two consecutive instances of chain pulling near the Daha River bridge. While the Train Manager, Krishna Kumar, was returning to the guard brake van after resetting the alarm chain, he was confronted by 2-3 unidentified individuals. The miscreants not only acted in an unruly manner but also pelted stones at him, causing minor injuries to his left leg.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Following the report of the incident, RPF Siwan Inspector Subhash Chandra Yadav and his team reached the spot at kilometer 391/5-3 to conduct a thorough investigation. Despite initial challenges in gathering leads from the area and the nearby LC Gate 94/A, a joint team comprising RPF Siwan, GRP Siwan, and CIB Chhapra was formed to track down the perpetrators.
A formal case has been registered at the RPF Post Siwan (Crime No. 412/26) under the Railways Act, and at the GRP Siwan (Crime No. 140/26) under the Railways Act along with sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Sub-Inspectors Ashok Kumar Singh (RPF) and Suresh Ram (GRP) are leading the investigation.
Railway officials have stated that the search for the remaining suspects is currently underway. The authorities are committed to ensuring the safety of railway staff and passengers, and further arrests are expected soon as the investigation progresses.
