Indian Railways has officially extended its popular 3% discount scheme for unreserved ticket bookings made via the RailOne app. This initiative, designed to promote a cashless economy and ease congestion at station booking counters, will now remain in effect until March 31, 2027. Passengers can avail of this discount by utilizing digital payment methods such as UPI, credit cards, debit cards, and net banking.
Key updates regarding the RailOne app discount include:
- The 3% digital payment discount on unreserved tickets is now extended until March 31, 2027.
- Users can also earn a 3% cashback bonus when booking through the integrated R-Wallet, valid until August 24, 2028.
- The RailOne app, developed by CRIS and launched on July 1, 2025, has already surpassed 4.76 crore downloads.
- The platform currently processes an average of 10 lakh ticket bookings daily.
Promoting Digital Transactions
Since its launch by Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the RailOne app has become a cornerstone of the digital transformation within Indian Railways. By incentivizing passengers to shift away from physical counters, the national transporter aims to provide a more seamless and efficient ticketing experience. Railway divisions, such as DRM Prayagraj (NCR), have been actively campaigning to encourage passengers to adopt the app, ensuring that commuters are aware of the financial benefits available for digital transactions.
Convenience at Your Fingertips
The integration of IRCTC services within the RailOne app has simplified the booking process for millions. Whether a passenger is opting for the 3% discount on standard digital payments or utilizing the R-Wallet for cashback, the system is designed to reward users for choosing a paperless journey. As of August 2026, the consistent growth in user adoption highlights the success of this digital-first strategy. For regular commuters, transitioning to the RailOne app not only saves time by bypassing queues but also offers consistent savings on travel expenses over the coming years.
