North Western Railway General Manager Pankaj Sharma conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Sambhar Lake-Phulera rail section on Saturday, August 22, 2026, to review ongoing infrastructure upgrades. Accompanied by Divisional Railway Manager Anurag Tripathi and senior officials from the Jodhpur Division, Sharma evaluated safety protocols, including inspections of level crossing gate number 2A and the local relay room. During the visit, he directed railway personnel to strictly adhere to safety regulations while maintaining construction quality standards. At Sambhar Railway Station, the General Manager reviewed station master offices, terminal premises, and existing passenger facilities to ensure development works proceed within stipulated timelines. This inspection follows broader efforts under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a Ministry of Railways initiative launched in December 2022 to modernize 1,275 railway stations nationwide.

The project focuses on improving passenger amenities, including enhanced waiting rooms, seating, drinking water, parking, and inter-modal integration. Prime Minister Narendra Modi previously inaugurated 75 redeveloped stations across 20 states on July 17, 2026, at a combined cost of approximately ₹1,570 crore. The overarching scheme aims to redevelop over 1,338 stations by mid-2026 with a total projected investment exceeding ₹71,000 crore.
