The Regional Development Forum Committee is strongly pushing for the establishment of a new electric loco shed in Gangapur City to drive local economic expansion and job creation. This key demand was finalized during a community meeting held at the Agarwal Dharamshala, where local stakeholders gathered to discuss vital railway infrastructure upgrades for the region. The push for a locomotive facility follows a high-level meeting held on August 3, 2026, at the Additional District Collector’s office, which brought together officials from railway revenue, national highway, and Karauli rail line departments. A joint inspection team subsequently visited the proposed site on August 4, 2026, and officially confirmed that sufficient land is available to accommodate both a locomotive factory and a railway yard capable of holding approximately 500 wagons. Former MLA and BJP District President Mansingh Gurjar has been actively leading these efforts to foster industrialization in the area. These developmental discussions align with the ongoing modernization of the local railway network. On July 17, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the redeveloped Gangapur City Railway Station, which was upgraded at a cost of approximately 25-crore rupees under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and Public Relations Officer Shri Saurabh Jain confirmed that the station now features modern, world-class passenger amenities. Meanwhile, nationwide railway manufacturing is also scaling up to support these networks. The Banaras Locomotive Works announced on August 15, 2026, a ambitious target to produce 468 electric locomotives during the current fiscal year, which includes 166 units dedicated specifically for Amrit Bharat trains. Residents and local leaders remain optimistic that the addition of an electric loco shed will further cement Gangapur City’s position as a vital hub on the Indian Railways map, ensuring long-term employment opportunities and robust industrial growth for the entire region.
