21 dead in Spain’s Andalusia train collision, 70 injured as high-speed express trains crash in Cordoba province.

A high-speed train accident in Andalusia, Spain has resulted in 21 deaths and over 70 injuries. Two trains collided head-on near Adamuz town in Cordoba province.




In Andalusia, Spain, a tragic train accident occurred on Sunday evening, resulting in 21 fatalities and more than 70 injuries. The collision took place when a high-speed train traveling from Malaga to Madrid derailed and collided with the Madrid-Huelva train on the opposite track near Adamuz town.

The Health Minister of Andalusia confirmed the death toll and stated that the number of casualties could rise as rescue operations are ongoing. The injured have been admitted to six different hospitals for treatment.


Rescue operations are challenging due to the tangled train compartments, with some falling four meters below the track. Passengers recount terrifying experiences of sudden jolts and chaos inside the train during the collision.

The Prime Minister and the King of Spain have expressed deep sorrow over the incident. All high-speed trains between Madrid and Andalusia have been suspended until further notice.


The Spanish Transport Minister labeled the accident as ‘very strange’ and ordered an investigation to determine the cause despite the new tracks and trains involved.
