The railway network in Rajasthan is set for a major upgrade with a record budget allocation of Rs 10,228 crore for the financial year 2026-27. The Railway Board has officially approved a new Vande Bharat Express that will run between Udaipur City and Asarva in Gujarat. Along with new trains, the budget focuses on connecting unconnected districts like Sirohi to the national rail map and improving infrastructure across the state.

Which new areas will get train connectivity?
North Western Railway (NWR) aims to add more than 350 kilometers of new rail connectivity in the coming year. The government has completed the survey for a 96 km long new rail line between Marwar Bagra, Sirohi, and Swarupganj. This project will connect the Sirohi district headquarters to the railway network for the first time. Additionally, an 11 km line has been approved between Balotra and Pachpadra to support the local refinery and industrial sector.

What is the schedule for the new Vande Bharat train?
The new Vande Bharat Express between Udaipur and Asarva will improve travel between Rajasthan and Gujarat. This train will operate six days a week, with no service on Tuesdays. It will depart from Udaipur at 06:10 AM and arrive in Asarva at 10:25 AM. On the return journey, it will leave Asarva at 05:45 PM. The train will stop at Jawar, Dungarpur, and Himmatnagar stations.
With the introduction of this new service, the railway administration has decided to stop two existing services. The Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat will be discontinued from February 14, and the Udaipur-Agra Cantt Vande Bharat will stop operations from February 15.
