The inspection covered several key projects aimed at upgrading the railway infrastructure in the region. A significant budget of ₹50 crore has been allocated for modernizing Bhagalpur station to provide airport-like facilities. The General Manager also reviewed the doubling of the 177-km Bhagalpur–Dumka–Rampurhat line, which is a massive project estimated at ₹3,169 crore. Plans for a new pitline in Barari were also discussed to help increase the number of daily train departures.

Several changes are being implemented to improve the travel experience for the common man. Platforms 2 and 3 at Bhagalpur station are being extended to accommodate longer trains with 22 coaches. To manage heavy crowds during festivals, a two-story permanent waiting hall is under construction. Officials also agreed on a new local train from Pakur to Bhagalpur to help passengers connect with the Vikramshila Express.
