Travelers planning to board trains from Puri in the coming months need to be alert regarding their schedule. Western Railway has announced that four major train services will not originate from Puri station between March and May 2026. Due to critical upgradation work under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at Puri station, these trains will instead start their journey from nearby satellite stations like Sakhigopal and Bir Purusothampur.

Complete List of Affected Trains and New Boarding Stations

The railway authorities have released a specific schedule for the affected trains. Passengers who have booked tickets on these dates must take note that their train will not be available at Puri station. Instead, they must travel to the revised originating stations mentioned below.

Train No. Train Name New Origin Affected Dates (2026)
12994 Puri – Gandhidham SF Sakhigopal Mar 16, 23, 30; Apr 6, 13, 20, 27; May 4, 11
22974 Puri – Gandhidham SF Sakhigopal Mar 14, 21, 28; Apr 4, 11, 18, 25; May 2, 9, 16
22910 Puri – Valsad SF Sakhigopal Mar 15, 22, 29; Apr 5, 12, 19, 26; May 3, 10
20918 Puri – Indore Humsafar Bir Purusothampur Mar 19, 26; Apr 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14

Important Guidelines for Passengers

Since the boarding points have changed, passengers need to plan their local travel accordingly. Sakhigopal station is approximately 16 to 17 kilometers away from Puri, while Bir Purusothampur is about 22 kilometers away. It is advisable to arrange for auto-rickshaws or taxis well in advance.

Authorities recommend reaching the new boarding station at least 60 to 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time to avoid any last-minute rush or confusion. The road traffic might be higher due to these diversions, so keeping extra buffer time is safer for travelers.

For real-time updates on train status and timings, passengers should check the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) website. While base fares remain unchanged, refunds are generally not applicable for the short distance not traveled unless a specific notification is issued by the railways.
