Indian Railways has decided to convert three special train services into regular operations across Bihar to address high passenger demand. These services include the Amrit Bharat Express and essential MEMU connections, which will provide better connectivity for commuters in Patna, Rajgir, Saharsa, and Jamalpur. The decision follows successful trial runs where these trains recorded significant revenue and high occupancy rates.
Schedule and Route Details for New Regular Trains
The new regular services will follow a fixed timetable to help passengers plan their journeys more effectively. The Patna-Rajgir service will cater to daily commuters, while the Dhanbad-Mumbai route offers a long-distance option for travelers from the Danapur Division.

Bhagalpur Rail Bypass and Amrit Bharat Expansion
In addition to the new train services, the Central Government has approved a 13.38 km rail bypass project in Bhagalpur. This project, with an estimated cost of 303.20 crore rupees, will connect Sabour and Gonudham to reduce congestion at main stations and improve travel speed. This development is part of a larger plan to enhance railway infrastructure in Bihar.
The expansion of the Amrit Bharat Express remains a priority for the East Central Railway. Multiple new routes connecting Bihar to major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Surat, and Amritsar are planned for the 2026 operational year. These routes aim to provide high-speed, affordable travel options for the common man across Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, and Patna.
