The Bhagalpur-Goradih Railway Overbridge (ROB) project has received a significant boost with the Railway’s technical approval for its bearing force calculation. This crucial green light, granted by the Chief Bridge Engineer of Eastern Railway on March 28, 2026, is set to accelerate the construction pace. Currently, work is progressing on the fifth pillar, and 30 percent of the foundation work is already complete, keeping the project on track for its targeted completion by December 2027.

What is the Current Status of the ROB Construction?
As of now, the Railway has officially provided technical approval for the bearing force calculation for the ROB. Piling work for all 21 pillars is complete, with 11 on the Goradih side and 10 on the Mirjanhat side. While construction on the Goradih side is moving forward, including the casting of cabs for four pillars, work on the 10 pillars on the Mirjanhat side has not yet started due to local protests and land acquisition issues. Administrative officials had inspected the site on March 2, 2026, to assess the situation.
What Are the Key Details and Benefits of This Project?
This important project, budgeted at approximately ₹67 crore (specifically ₹66,96,20,824), aims to significantly ease traffic flow for 10-12 thousand vehicles daily between Bhagalpur city and the bypass. Hardev Construction Private Limited secured the contract with a bid of ₹66.96 crore. The ROB will be 13 meters wide, featuring footpaths on both sides, and will have a total length of 713.8 meters with a height of 16.5 meters over the railway tracks. It is expected to connect to the Bholanath Flyover and Mirjanhat Golambar, reducing congestion and solving waterlogging issues at the existing Bholanath underpass, thereby improving connectivity for residents of the southern region to the four-lane road and the railway station.
