This represents a 34 percent growth compared to the previous financial year. Station officials attributed this success to improved passenger facilities and the increasing popularity of premium trains like Vande Bharat Express.
Revenue breakdown and passenger statistics
The station currently handles a massive volume of traffic with nearly 94,000 passengers visiting daily. Over 1.15 crore people traveled through this station in the last financial year. The revenue is generated through multiple sources including ticket sales, parcel services, parking, and catering units as mentioned by station officials.

Infrastructure upgrades and future plans
Station Director Arpit Gupta stated that facilities at Varanasi Junction are being strengthened to match the standards of major hubs like Delhi and Mumbai. The Ministry of Railways is focusing on an integrated development plan for three stations in the city. This will eventually increase the capacity to handle trains from 150 to 500. The Vande Bharat Express on the New Delhi route also recorded a 34 percent increase in occupancy during this period. Some challenges like the lack of coach display systems on certain platforms are being addressed through new proposals sent to the ministry.
