The Prayagraj Division of North Central Railway has launched a mega project to make small railway stations accessible for Divyang passengers. This initiative focuses on providing a comfortable and independent travel experience, ensuring that passengers do not require external help during their journey. The project is scheduled to be completed within one year and the tender process for the work has already started.
What facilities will be provided under this project?
The project includes several infrastructure improvements designed specifically for Divyang passengers. Key features include low-height ticket counters for easier access and Braille signage for visually impaired travelers. The stations will also be equipped with the following facilities:
- Installation of ramps and provision of wheelchairs
- Divyang-friendly toilets and drinking water stations
- Improved entry and exit points for better mobility
- Self-reliant travel experience from station entry to boarding trains
Which railway sections will be covered?
The Prayagraj Division aims to implement these changes across multiple key routes. This project will cover small stations located on the Prayagraj-Ghaziabad main line, Etawah-Mainpuri, and Shikohabad-Farrukhabad sections. Additionally, stations on the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya-Prayagraj section, Chunar-Chopan, and Naini-Manikpur routes will be upgraded. According to Amit Kumar Singh, PRO of Prayagraj Division, this move is part of the Sugamya Bharat campaign to ensure safety and dignity for all passengers.
