Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains on April 28, 2026. These trains aim to provide affordable and modern travel for passengers from lower and lower-middle-income groups. The new services connect major religious and commercial hubs across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

What are the new Amrit Bharat Express routes?

The Indian Railways introduced two specific routes to improve connectivity for pilgrims and traders. The first train runs from Ayodhya Cantt to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai LTT), stopping at Itarsi and Jabalpur. The second train operates between Banaras (Varanasi) and Hadapsar (Pune), passing through Narmadapuram and Itarsi stations.

What facilities and benefits are available for passengers?

These trains are designed for comfort and affordability. They include sleeper coaches, general coaches, SLR, and pantry car facilities. The launch is expected to boost religious tourism to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Additionally, it will help regional trade between the three states.

Who flagged off the trains at the local level?

At Itarsi railway station, Lok Sabha MP Darshan Singh Choudhary and Rajya Sabha MP Maya Naroliya flagged off the trains from platform number 4. In Harda, a special inaugural service (02531) was welcomed by Central State Minister Durga Das Uike and other officials. MP Darshan Singh Choudhary also instructed officials to increase ticket counters and remove illegal vendors to improve passenger safety.
