The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved three multi-tracking railway projects on May 5, 2026. These projects will cost ₹23,437 crore and cover 901 kilometers of tracks. The main goal is to reduce congestion on busy routes, increase train speeds, and make freight movement easier across six states.

Which routes and states will benefit from this project

The expansion will cover 19 districts across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. The project includes the Nagda-Mathura, Guntakal-Wadi, and Burhwal-Sitapur third and fourth lines. These lines will connect major cities and towns, improving operational efficiency by 2030-31.
