After a long-standing wait that saw the facility earn the local nickname of a “ghost station,” Bhopal’s Nishatpura railway station is finally set to welcome passengers. The official inauguration is scheduled for **July 28, 2026, at 4:30 PM**. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will lead the ceremony, with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expected to attend the event virtually. This development marks the end of recent confusion regarding the station’s operational status and confirms its transition into a fully functional transport hub.

Key highlights regarding the new station launch include:

  • The inauguration ceremony will take place on July 28, 2026, at 4:30 PM.
  • The Malwa Express (12919/20) and Somnath Express (11465/66) will now halt at Nishatpura instead of Bhopal Junction.
  • Passengers holding existing bookings from Bhopal Junction for these specific trains must now board at Nishatpura.
  • The facility serves approximately 3 lakh residents in the Karond, Chhola, Bhanpur, and Ayodhya Bypass regions.

Operational Changes and Connectivity

Naval Agarwal, the Public Relations Officer for the Bhopal Railway Division, has confirmed that the station is fully prepared for passenger services. To streamline operations, the **Malwa Express (12919/20) and Somnath Express (11465/66) will discontinue their halts at Bhopal Junction** and will instead stop at Nishatpura. Travelers are strictly advised to update their travel plans and reach the new station accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.

Looking ahead, railway authorities are already reviewing proposals to introduce additional weekly, bi-weekly, and daily express train services at this location. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to boost regional connectivity.

A Long-Awaited Milestone

Completed in **June 2023 at a cost of approximately ₹6 crore**, the station remained dormant for nearly three years due to pending operational approvals and technical adjustments. Now categorized as an **NSG-3 station**, it is poised to become the fourth or fifth major railway node in Bhopal. By decentralizing operations, the station is expected to significantly alleviate the heavy passenger congestion currently experienced at Bhopal Junction and Rani Kamalapati railway stations. This launch is a major win for the residents of Northern Bhopal, providing them with much-needed, closer access to the railway network.
