The systems are capable of identifying suspicious movements and even detecting if a person falls on the premises, triggering immediate alerts for ground staff. The effectiveness of this move is clear, with nearly 10,000 security incidents resolved through these digital interventions over the last three years.
Regional Infrastructure Boost
Beyond the national rollout, local railway divisions are actively closing gaps in security infrastructure. The Northeast Railway’s Izzatnagar Rail Division is currently executing a Rs 14 crore infrastructure project. This specific initiative focuses on securing trains and over 250 railway crossings, with 12 trains already retrofitted as of July 17, 2026. Simultaneously, the Jhansi-Kanpur route saw a boost in May 2026 with the installation of 81 new cameras across 16 stations. These efforts are part of a broader, continuous plan to modernize station amenities, which also includes the installation of new escalators and additional surveillance hardware to ensure that passengers remain safe throughout their journey.
