Passengers at Hisar Railway Station can now experience a more comfortable wait before their journeys following the inauguration of a new air-conditioned (AC) waiting hall on Sunday, July 26, 2026. This initiative, spearheaded by the North Western Railway’s Bikaner Division, is designed to provide a cool and restful environment for travelers, particularly those waiting for long-distance trains.
Key highlights of the new facility include:
• Nominal hourly charges for passengers with tiered pricing for adults and children.
• On-site canteen services offering tea and coffee for ₹10 per cup.
• Enhanced security measures provided by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
• Dedicated, separate restroom facilities for men and women.
• Clean, comfortable seating integrated with a managed environment.
Understanding the Facility and Usage Fees
To maintain the high standards of the new hall, the operation and maintenance have been outsourced to a private agency following a competitive tender process held in June. Access to the climate-controlled space is available for a modest fee. Passengers aged 12 and above are charged ₹20 for the first hour and ₹10 for every subsequent hour. For children between the ages of 5 and 12, the fee is set at ₹10 for the first hour.
Inside the hall, travelers can access refreshments at reasonable prices. While tea and coffee are priced at a fixed ₹10 per cup, other food items are available at their standard printed MRP. Station Superintendent Satyawan Lamba emphasized that this facility is a significant step toward improving the passenger experience, allowing those waiting for long-distance departures to rest in comfort.
Positive Initial Response
Contractor Lalit Gautam noted that the facility is specifically designed to offer convenience to families and individuals alike. The response on the very first day was encouraging, with approximately 50 passengers choosing to utilize the new waiting hall. With its combination of secure, clean, and temperature-controlled amenities, the hall is expected to become a preferred stop for travelers passing through the Hisar station, marking a positive development in the station’s ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
