The Kashmir Valley has achieved a significant milestone in its logistics and trade capabilities as the first rice wagon dispatched from Ambala has successfully reached the newly operationalized Pampore Railway Station. • This is the second dedicated goods shed in the Kashmir Valley, joining the existing facility in Anantnag.

• The shed operates on a daily schedule from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM to streamline freight movement.
Expanding Freight Connectivity in the Valley
This initiative follows the successful arrival of the inaugural freight rake at the station on July 17, 2026, which transported cement from Bharatgarh and Kiratpur Sahib in the Ambala Division. According to Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, the new goods shed is set to be a game-changer for the local economy. By reducing dependency on distant loading points, the facility will significantly lower transportation costs, providing much-needed relief to local fruit growers, farmers, and traders who rely on timely distribution.
