Following an inspection on July 28, 2026, by Sadar SDO Shreyansh Tiwari and Senior DEN-3 Ravindra Raj, officials are finalizing traffic arrangements to ensure a smooth transition once the gate is barricaded. Despite challenges posed by continuous rain, the Samastipur Rail Division remains committed to the project’s completion.
Progress on Supaul-Araria Rail Route
Efforts to expedite the Supaul-Araria new rail line are gaining momentum. During an inspection on July 23, 2026, District Magistrate Sawan Kumar directed officials to resolve technical bottlenecks, particularly regarding seven railway bridges between Triveni Ganj and Jadia that require NOCs from the Irrigation Department. Additionally, authorities have been instructed to clear encroachments along the route. Land acquisition processes for the project in Mauja-Latauna were last updated on July 20, 2026.
Saharsa-Mansi Doubling Project
To address the saturation of the existing single-line corridor, Indian Railways has approved the doubling of the 44.40-kilometer Saharsa-Mansi rail section. With an estimated cost of 499 crore rupees, this project is essential as the current capacity utilization has already reached 108.11% and is expected to climb to 119.34% by 2028-29. According to Samastipur DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra, this expansion will enable the infrastructure to handle an additional 1.764 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) of freight, providing a major boost to the local agricultural and construction sectors.
