The West Central Railway has announced a major infrastructure overhaul at Bina station to facilitate the integration of a new third rail line between Agasod and Bina. This significant development project, which aims to boost train speeds, safety, and overall operational capacity, will result in major disruptions to rail traffic between August 14 and October 15, 2026. Passengers traveling through this route are advised to plan their journeys well in advance.
Key updates regarding the project include:
- Total trains affected: 87 services
- 16 trains fully cancelled
- 48 trains diverted to alternative routes
- 12 trains to be short-terminated or originate from different stations
- Project timeline: August 14, 2026, to October 15, 2026
Phased Construction Schedule
The remodeling work is strategically divided into three phases to manage the complexity of the yard integration. The pre-to-pre non-interlocking (NI) phase runs from August 14 to August 31, followed by the pre-non-interlocking phase from September 1 to October 12. The final non-interlocking (NI) phase is scheduled between October 13 and October 15, 2026. Bhopal DRM Pankaj Tyagi has been coordinating closely with North Central Railway officials to ensure the work is completed efficiently.
Impact on Passenger Services
According to West Central Railway Senior DCM Saurabh Katariya, the operational changes will be widespread. Notably, the Bhopal-Gwalior Express (12197/12198) will remain cancelled from October 1 to October 15. Other major trains facing route diversions include the Shipra Express, Ahmedabad-Kolkata Express, Howrah-Bhopal Express, and the Bhopal-Dhanbad Express.
Following the completion of the yard work in October, the station will undergo further development, including the construction of a new station building scheduled through March 2027. As train schedules remain subject to change during this period, railway authorities have urged all passengers to verify their specific train status before heading to the station. You can check real-time updates via the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or by calling the railway helpline at 139.
