Passengers traveling through Deeg railway station can now enjoy a more seamless booking experience following the launch of a new integrated UTS-cum-PRS (Unreserved Ticketing System-cum-Passenger Reservation System) counter. Introduced by the Agra Railway Division this Monday, this service allows commuters to purchase both reserved and unreserved tickets at a single location, effectively eliminating the need for separate queues.
- Integrated Service: Passengers can now book both reserved and unreserved tickets from one window.
- Operational Efficiency: The facility simplifies ticket acquisition and reduces overall waiting times.
- Refund Management: The counter facilitates easier handling of cancellations and refunds for reserved tickets.
- Modern Connectivity: Deeg station continues to support UTS QR code booking via mobile apps.
Streamlining Passenger Services
The introduction of this integrated counter is part of a strategic initiative by the Ministry of Railways, which dates back to a December 2015 policy decision aimed at upgrading existing UTS counters to function as dual-purpose facilities. By merging these systems, Indian Railways addresses the challenge of managing reserved ticket transactions during hours when traditional, dedicated PRS counters might be closed or unavailable.
A Commitment to Digital Modernization
This development is a key part of the ongoing efforts by Indian Railways to modernize passenger services across its network. Beyond the physical counters, Deeg station remains well-equipped for the digital age. Passengers are encouraged to utilize UTS QR codes, which allow for the quick booking of unreserved tickets directly through official mobile applications. This digital-first approach works in tandem with the existing network of computerized counters, online booking platforms, and Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs).
The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) continues to provide the technical backbone for these systems, ensuring that passengers experience a smooth and reliable transition between booking methods. As Indian Railways continues to roll out these upgrades, the primary goal remains the same: providing a hassle-free, efficient, and accessible ticketing environment for travelers across the country.
