On Monday, April 20, 2026, railway personnel discovered a dent on the rail track of the busy Delhi-Howrah route near Achhalda in Auraiya. The mark was first spotted by a gangman during a routine inspection at pole number 1119/21 on the Up line. Following the report, the North Central Railway (NCR) officials immediately reached the site to assess the situation and ensure the safety of passing trains.
How was the dented track managed by the staff?
As soon as the dent was identified, the Permanent Way Inspector (PWI) and other technical staff conducted a thorough inspection of the rail line. To prevent any accident, the railway department took the following steps:
- A temporary speed restriction of 30 kilometers per hour was imposed on the Up line.
- Trains were allowed to pass the specific section at a slow speed under supervision.
- The area was continuously monitored until the repair work started.
- Railway personnel remained on-site to guide the train pilots through the affected patch.
Details of the track replacement and block
Public Relations Officer of Prayagraj, Amit Singh, confirmed that the track replacement was a necessary safety measure. The work was carried out within a planned schedule to minimize the impact on train timings. The railway team implemented a two-hour traffic block from 1 PM to 3 PM on the same day. During this period, the dented portion of the rail was removed and replaced with a new track section. Normal train operations resumed at full speed shortly after the technical team gave the fitness certificate for the track.
