The journey to Vaishno Devi holds immense importance in Hindu religious beliefs. Pilgrims undertake a challenging trek to reach the temple, which is situated on Trikuta Hill. To have darshan of the goddess, devotees must climb a total of 740 steps as part of the 13-kilometer ascent to the temple. This pilgrimage is not only a physical endeavor but also a spiritual experience for many devotees.

Traveling to Katra by Train

To begin their journey to Vaishno Devi, devotees typically travel to Katra by train. The Vande Bharat Express is one of the fastest options available for reaching Katra, significantly reducing travel time compared to other trains. The Vande Mata Express departs from Delhi at 6 am and arrives at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station by 2:00 pm. The fare for the Vande Bharat Express is higher than that of regular trains, with prices for different classes ranging from Rs 990 for a Third AC ticket on the Jammu Mail to Rs 3005 for an economic chair class ticket on Vande Bharat.

Booking Process for Vande Bharat Train

Travelers can book tickets for the Vande Bharat train both online and offline. Online bookings can be made through the official IRCTC website, www.irctc.co.in, or via the IRCTC Rail Connect app. For offline bookings, passengers can visit the nearest train counter, where they can fill out and submit a reservation form to obtain their tickets. The Vande Bharat Express offers a significant advantage, saving approximately four hours of travel time compared to other trains, making it a preferred choice for many pilgrims heading to Katra.
