Indian Railways has announced the operation of 908 summer special trains to manage the heavy rush of passengers during the summer season. These special services will run from April 15, 2026, to July 15, 2026, making travel easier for people going home for vacations or festivals. The primary goal of this initiative is to reduce the long waiting lists and provide confirmed berths to as many passengers as possible.
What are the major details of these 908 summer special trains
The Ministry of Railways has planned a total of 18,262 trips for these special trains across various routes in the country. This effort covers multiple railway zones, including the South Central Railway, Western Railway, Northern Railway, and East Central Railway. Out of the 908 approved trains, 660 trains covering 11,294 trips have already been officially notified, allowing passengers to plan their journeys and book tickets in advance.
How will these special trains benefit the common passengers
Railway officials stated that these additional services are a priority to ensure a comfortable journey for millions of commuters. By increasing the frequency of trains on high-demand routes like UP and Bihar, the pressure on regular trains is expected to decrease. The extra berths and better connectivity between major destinations will help travelers get tickets without much hassle during the peak summer months.
