Indian Railways has announced a significant reshuffle of its train schedules effective from July 9, 2026, aimed at balancing network logistics and passenger demand. While several popular special train routes have been extended to provide relief to travelers, others have been cancelled due to essential operational constraints and infrastructure maintenance work.
- Extended Services: Key routes including Udhna-Madhubani, Udhna-Jhanjharpur, and Lal Kuan-Rajkot see additional trips.
- Kanpur Connectivity: Special services from Kanpur Central to Asarwa and SMVT Bengaluru have been extended through late September.
- Cancellations: Several long-distance services, including those from Pune and Hazrat Nizamuddin, are cancelled for operational reasons.
- Infrastructure Impact: Doubling and non-interlocking work on the Jhansi-Manikpur section will affect local passenger trains between July 21 and July 23.
Extended Special Train Operations
To assist passengers traveling to Western and Southern India, the railways have confirmed the extension of several services. The Udhna-Madhubani (09045/09046) and Udhna-Jhanjharpur (09047/09048) weekly specials will run for three additional trips each between July 12 and July 27. Similarly, the Lal Kuan-Rajkot weekly special (05045/05046) is set for 11 extra trips, operating until September 27/28, 2026.
For passengers in the Kanpur region, the Kanpur Central-Asarwa special will continue operations until August 31 with seven additional trips. The Kanpur Central-SMVT Bengaluru (04133/04134) service is extended until September 2026, running every Sunday from Kanpur and every Wednesday from Bengaluru. Additionally, the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Kanpur special (04152) has been extended until September 26, 2026.
Cancellations and Infrastructure Work
Due to operational challenges, the following trains have been cancelled: Hazrat Nizamuddin-Dadar (04001/04002), Anand Vihar Terminal-Sheikhpura (04069/04070), CSMT-Gorakhpur (01079/01080), Pune-Gorakhpur/Hadapsar (01415/01416), Pune-Ghazipur City (01431/01432), and Pune-Hazrat Nizamuddin (01491/01492).
Furthermore, essential track doubling and non-interlocking work on the Jhansi-Manikpur section will impact local transit. Consequently, the 64601 Manikpur-Kanpur Central and 64602 Kanpur Central-Manikpur passenger trains will remain cancelled from July 21 to July 23. Passengers are advised to check the official IRCTC website or the NTES app before planning their journeys to stay updated on real-time schedule changes.
