Passengers waiting at Siwan Junction witnessed a bizarre incident on the morning of February 14, 2026. The large LED screens, which are installed to display train schedules and platform numbers, suddenly started playing a loud Bhojpuri song. This unexpected broadcast caused confusion and shock among the people present on the platforms. Videos of the incident were recorded by passengers and quickly went viral on social media platforms, raising serious questions about the management of digital systems at the station.

What action is the Railway taking?

The Railway administration has acknowledged the incident and ordered a strict probe into the matter. Preliminary reports indicate that this could be a breach of digital security or a deliberate prank by the personnel handling the system. The North Eastern Railway (NER), Varanasi Division, is overseeing the inquiry. Local station officials have faced criticism for the delay in stopping the unauthorized broadcast, which reportedly continued for several minutes before normal displays were restored.

What are the rules for such violations?

The LED screens at the station are part of the Railway Display Network (RDN), and strict guidelines govern their usage. Authorities have stated that displaying unauthorized content is treated as a major violation. The contractor or agency responsible for maintaining these screens now faces severe consequences.

  • Contract Cancellation: The responsible agency faces immediate blacklisting and cancellation of their advertising contract.
  • Legal Action: An FIR will be filed under the IT Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against those found guilty.
  • Financial Penalty: Standard procedures involve heavy fines, often exceeding ₹1 lakh, for such lapses in operation.
