India plans to remove all railway gates by 2030 to enhance safety and efficiency in train travel.

The Indian government has announced that by 2030, all railway gates will be phased out as part of a big plan to modernise the railways. This initiative aims to make the rail network safer and more efficient for everyone.

Union Minister George Kurian explained that level crossings will be replaced with underbridges and overbridges. This change comes as new-generation trains and better infrastructure are being introduced across the country.

Passengers can expect more long-distance and express trains to stop at additional stations in the future. This is to ensure that public needs are met effectively, making train travel more accessible for everyone.

In Kerala, 35 railway stations have been chosen for the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with an investment of ₹2,500 crore planned for their upgrades. The goal is to bring all stations across India up to these modern standards over time.

Changanassery station will also see new railway lines connecting it to Sabari and Punalur. This is expected to boost regional growth and improve the travel experience for passengers significantly.

Summary:

  • All railway gates in India will be removed by 2030.

  • New underbridges and overbridges will replace level crossings.

  • More express trains will stop at additional stations.

  • 35 Kerala stations will be modernised with significant investment.

  • Changanassery station will connect to new railway lines for growth.
