Indian Railways to Honor Guru Teg Bahadur’s 350th Martyrdom Anniversary with Special Initiatives Across Key Stations in India

Indian Railways is getting ready to celebrate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru. This event will take place through various activities aimed at honouring his legacy and inspiring the youth.

Recently, a high-level meeting was held at Rail Bhawan where Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, announced that these celebrations will be guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They will work closely with Sikh institutions across India for this occasion.


Some exciting proposals were discussed, like displaying Guru Teg Bahadur’s verses at railway stations and trains, launching special commemorative trains, and putting up Punjabi signboards at major stations in Haryana, Patna, and Hazur Sahib.

Additionally, plans include serving langar on selected trains, improving cleanliness on trains like the Sachkhand Express, and enhancing facilities on pilgrimage routes. There is also a suggestion to rename Delhi Railway Station in honour of Guru Teg Bahadur.


The Railway Board Chairman, Satish Kumar, assured that these proposals will be taken seriously. The commemorative programme is set to unfold in the coming months, blending cultural respect with modern infrastructure to honour the Guru’s legacy nationwide.
